My name is Lorita Casanova, and I am a Licensed Marriage Family Therapist (LMFT) based in Merced, California, and working with clients statewide via telehealth. I work with adults and specialize in anxiety, depression, and trauma, using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Solution Focus Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, and Prolonged Exposure Therapy to help my clients make progress and start feeling better. I have found that my style and approach are a good fit for 18 and older adults who may be struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, and social pressures.
I provided evidence-based therapy with interventions to build healthy coping skills and empower clients to regulate emotions, build distress tolerance, use mindfulness, and develop interpersonal effectiveness. I take time to build rapport and establish rapport with clients.
If my client and I are working to resolve trauma, the sessions are structured to ensure we are adhering to the integrity of the trauma models to help us reach trauma recovery. I believe in skills building to provide tools my client will be able to use during and after the completion of therapy.
