It involves no longer avoiding what is painful, confusing or scary and, with help, walking through it to find both insight and relief.
This process includes exploring thoughts, feelings and behaviors to identify and understand patterns while replacing negative coping strategies with more effective ones. The goal is not only to attend to the current symptoms but to identify and address the underlying roots.
