Many young adults (18-25) reach a point where they begin to question the roles, expectations, and beliefs they grew up with. You might be realizing that toxic family dynamics from your childhood still show up in your life today. Maybe setting boundaries with family leads to angry texts, guilt-filled phone calls, or pressure to “just go along” with what your family wants. You might be trying to figure out how to build independence from parents while still managing their expectations or reactions. For some people, this includes setting firmer boundaries or even considering estrangement.
It’s also common at this stage of life to start thinking about identity in new ways—whether that’s exploring your culture, religion, or understanding a LGBTQ+ identity. My goal is to create a supportive space where you can talk openly about these dynamics. And if you’re an animal lover, you may meet Remmi, our therapy dog who offers cuddles during sessions.
As a counseling intern, I offer reduced-fee therapy sessions ($40) while receiving ongoing supervision and training. This allows therapy to be more accessible for young adults, college students, and anyone who needs affordable support.
