As a clinical psychologist my goal is to help patients find ways to help themselves be happier and more satisfied with their lives. Many people come to therapy because they are anxious or depressed. They have trouble finding or sustaining meaningful relationships. Sometimes one member of a family is having difficulties and the whole family is suffering. The goal of treatment is to begin to talk openly and honestly about the obstacles in ones life and to think about how to move forward.
In broad terms, my practice includes children, adolescents and adults with a wide range of presenting problems: depression, anxiety, pre and post- partum depression, parenting difficulties, relationship issues and divorce.
I have extensive training in psychodynamic theories and practice, but I appreciate the usefulness of cognitive behavioral interventions and meditative strategies such as mindfulness. My purpose is to help alleviate suffering and promote ones own ability to understand and manage their own life and I utilize the best means to achieve that end.
