I focused on a Client-centered therapy. I am able to relay back to the patient what they have expressed so that she/he can identify the changes one would like to make in life. I believe this process of client self-discovery occurred because there is a consistent empathic understanding.
My take on what makes a good therapist includes the basics: being empathic, being a good listener, having a basic knowledge of theoretical frameworks, etc. As an effective therapist,I bring my psychological knowledge, empathy, and my spiritual self to the therapy session that is able to connect wholistically.

DBT Skills Group
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy Group The Adult Intensive Dialectical Behavioral Therapy Program (DBT) is designed for adults whose affective behavior leads to self-injurious or self-defeating behaviors. It is a mindfulness-oriented therapy for those struggling with issues of self injury and self sabotage, and its aim is to help adults understand the triggers that lead to such behavior. The group class is designed to help adults learn new skills with which they can effectively regulate their emotions and manage their behaviors. It is especially useful for management of compulsive and addictive behaviors. (Available in the San Francisco & Burlingame offices.)
