My name is Liz Michaud, LMFT with DOT Center: Oakland. I provide compassionate, in-depth psychotherapy to help clients strengthen their self-esteem, overcome fears, and deepen their understanding of themselves and others. My approach is non-judgmental and is aimed at helping clients feel seen and heard with kindness. I support the cultivation of hope and resiliency in my clients while moving through life’s difficulties. Truth, empathy and compassion are fundamental tools that I use as a practitioner of psychotherapy, and I aim to help my clients use these same tools to navigate their own lives in ways that honor their individuality.
I allow for the organic, natural flow of the therapy process as my clients and I talk together, welcoming what needs to be expressed. I attend to emotions, thoughts and experiences as they naturally come up for my clients in the course of our time together. I provide education, share insights, facilitate creative expression, and encourage skill building.
I integrate a wide variety of perspectives toward psychological and spiritual health and healing. It is my opinion that our human experience is defined by a common longing that we all have to make meaning from our experience, to feel connected to ourselves and others, and to feel that we are living with a sense of purpose.
