My approach is simple. I see my role as a partner in a process that is the pursuit of healing and restoration. While I have certain professional expertise, every client is an expert about his/her/their own life. I am intentionally client-centered, strengths based and trauma-informed. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as my primary means of intervention which includes an eclectic blend of Brief Solution Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Humanistic and other modalities. Assigned homework is common and clients participate in the development of activities that support clearly identified treatment plan goals.
I am a licensed clinical social worker with over 20+ years of experience in forensic, inpatient, outpatient, public health, and private practice settings. In addition to earning a master's degree in social work, I also hold doctoral degrees in advance social work practice and education. I support adults who are facing diverse types of challenges.
Clients can expect to develop a strong therapeutic relationship which becomes the foundation for delving into difficult emotions and thoughts the client may experience. This also supports the need to examine decision-making processes and finding ways of using techniques, skills, and strategies to adjust and change the clients quality of life.
