My name is Lisa Leadbetter, and I am an LCPC licensed in Maine. I believe that connection and a strong relationship in therapy is everything. I pull from many different modalities and techniques but believe that the client determines what works best for them. I specialize in trauma, anxiety and depression and have extensive experience in communication, self-esteem and helping people be their best selves. I most often use cognitive behavioral therapy as a main approach but other staples in my approach are acceptance and commitment therapy, trauma informed and person-centered modalities.
I am comfortable working with a diversity of issues and backgrounds but really enjoy working with people who need a therapist who can be direct and not be afraid to ask hard questions. I am particularly comfortable in getting to know people by creating a safe and secure place where people feel comfortable to discuss things they cannot elsewhere.
I believe that everyone is the expert on themselves and knows best what they need. I will always ask a lot of questions to help me understand while helping folks express exactly what it is they are thinking, feeling and needing to be the happiest they can be.
