About

I believe we all want to live a life worth living. If you are struggling in life, feeling stuck, finding it difficult to manage your emotions, paralyzed by fear, or not understanding why you can't let go of the past, I can help. As a Licensed Creative Arts Therapist, I have extensive training and experience integrating evidence based talk therapy interventions with the creative process, which has the potential to be intrinsically healing and therapeutic.
Art Therapy is an approach to therapy that can provide an opportunity to express oneself in authentic ways, and beyond language. I am trained in trauma informed counseling, EMDR Therapy, Progressive Counseling, Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) methods, as well as self-hypnosis and creative visualization.
Over my 32 - year career, it has been an honor to work with individuals of all ages from diverse backgrounds. Whether you are looking for a confidential space to discuss and deal with difficult and/or painful life situations, or to overcome self-defeating behaviors, please call me to discuss your goals. I am currently offering individual and group therapy.

Lisa Allan Horlein's Groups

Getting Wrapped: An Exploration of Body Image

In this time-limited, 4-session women's group, members are invited to explore the stories they tell themselves and stories told to them by others, while learning how to make body sculptures using clear shipping tape. The process of body wrapping with others allows group members to process ideas about intimacy and personal boundaries in a safe place, as well as give voice to a new narrative that invites a deeper acceptance and curiosity about self and other.

Art & Stress Reduction

The goal of this group is to provide an uplifting studio space in which group members can learn and/or practice integrating spontaneous art making with mindfulness, meditation, and creative visualization skill techniques. In this group, members will have an opportunity to check their thoughts and let go of daily distress while engaging in the creative process. Group members will have a chance to share their experience with others. If you seek guidance, a sense of belonging, or someone to help keep you accountable and on track with healthy habits, this may be the group for you.
