As a trauma therapist for teens and adults, I truly believe that to heal, we must feel. While this concept sounds simple, I understand how challenging it can be. Many of us learn to disconnect from our emotions and needs as a way to shield ourselves from the pain of our experiences. I specialize in helping clients who have faced trauma—of any kind— understand the purpose of these protections and develop alternative ways to feel safe within yourself, your body, and others around you. Trauma often gets stuck in the body, and can show up in intrusive ways. Together we try to get all of that yuck unstuck, and feel through the pain.
I utilize a range of therapeutic approaches, including EMDR, AEDP, parts work/inner-child therapy, and somatic therapy. In the room, this will look like learning about your protections, when and how they show up in your mind and body, and moving shame aside to be with deep emotions that may have felt like too much to be with on your own.
As a therapist, I view my role as being a safe container for clients to share and not be alone in their experiences. Through compassion, gentle challenging of shame, and humor, I aim to explore all the identities, beliefs, and experiences that make you, you! I work to ensure the space is collaborative, while also being rooted in trauma informed practices.
