I am very balanced in my approach to therapy. I am not overly academic, nor will make you talk endlessly about your "feelings". I believe in introspection, but I also believe in developing practical plans for bettering your life. I work from a vast knowledge base, drawing on my academic training and nearly 15 years of working intensively with clients. I have a knack for explaining psychological theory and research, and showing how it applies to your life. I hold a PhD in clinical psychology. In addition, I possess a strong natural ability to understand and connect with my clients.
I use a respectful, collaborative approach to help my clients deal with a wide range of life issues, including relationship problems, grief and loss, trauma, identity issues, depression, and anxiety.
Recently, I have been trained in EMDR, a seemingly simple treatment that can speed the healing process for issues ranging from negative patterns or feelings that you face on a day-to-day basis to large traumas and losses that effect the center of who you are.
