About
I take an active approach in working with my clients to develop effective coping skills to face life's challenges. I use a cognitive approach to help clients learn how their thinking adds to their distress and how to assess their concerns in more empowering ways. My training is in marriage and family therapy so whether I am working with one person or a number of family members, I help my clients understand how changes in how the family operates can greatly reduce stress. I have a particular interest in and continue training in mindfulness based stress reduction.
With many years of experience in Employee Assistance Programs, I can help clients deal more effectively with work related issues and work related stress I also have experience and interest in helping clients reduce stress who are dealing with gastrointestinal issues such as IBS.
Prior to going into private practice, I was fortunate to have a range of experience in a variety of settings that has broadened my skills and knowledge base. These include private school, college, workplace employee assistance programs, counseling agencies and mental health centers.
