I believe that we are naturally programmed to heal, but often we rely on past coping skills that are no longer functional, and this blocks the path to healing. I think every symptom once served a purpose and that change can occur by looking at how and why these symptoms developed, while at the same time trying new behaviors.

I take an integrative and collaborative approach to therapy which is client centered and goal driven. I create a safe and non-judgmental space where we work together to solve problems, overcome obstacles, and facilitate personal and relational growth. I assess the biological, psychological and social aspects of a person, couple or family, using a balance of approaches that are attachment based and include insight-oriented and cognitive behavior therapies to treat depression/anxiety, grief, trauma, etc.

My practice involves Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for anxiety and related disorders as well as other empirically supported treatments such as Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Habit Reversal Training for Body Focused Repetitive Behaviors. I work with children, adolescents and adults to overcome various anxieties using Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), mindfulness, and compassion-focused therapy. I am dedicated to helping others live with reduced anxiety and better enjoy their daily lives. I do this through compassion, acceptance, and especially humor.

Oftentimes, we develop patterns of behaving and relating to others as a way of coping with and protecting ourselves from our early environments. As we expand out past those early experiences and relationships, we may find that these old ways of thinking, behaving, and relating no longer work for us. Together in therapy, we will explore the origins and functions of those patterns, gaining an awareness of how they show up and how we might develop a new path.

I believe in using an integrative, compassionate, and creative relationship-based approach that utilizes techniques from cognitive-behavioral, existential, EMDR, and Clinical Hypnosis. I adapt my approach to match the needs of the person and meet them where they are. I believe in treating the whole person through a collaborative relationship that utilizes individual strengths and experiences to discover new ways to cope with the difficulties we experience throughout life.
