In a first life, I was founder/owner of a successful business, from ground up to national distribution.
While trained in multiple therapy modes, I focus on collaborative, interactive cognitive work to start and retain a deep change from negative thinking to clarity. What is in need of change, and why? What are steps that can create energy, courage, growth- without disruption? What is the right pace of change and are we on target? I see therapy as emotional "detective work" whose aim is freedom and satisfaction. Discovering possibilities and practicing changes, step by step, leads on to emotional recovery- and freedom, whether from anxiety, depression, relationship difficulty, low self-esteem, addiction, or underemployment.

I also incorporate life coaching skills and work well with clients who are motivated to do deep work and take action to create change.
I believe that self-acceptance and self-understanding are fundamental to meaningful change and that each of us has an innate healing capacity and ability to thrive. Sometimes, unresolved memories or traumas, anxiety, depression, self-criticism, identity issues, cultural conditioning or daily stressors can stand in the way of our sense of vitality and efficacy in life. I provide clients with a supportive, non-judgmental space (with a bit of humor when appropriate) to process psychological distress and get to the root of what is keeping you from orienting toward more authenticity and balance.

As a solution-focused therapist I honor the interconnection of Mind, Body and Spirit by applying complementary approaches and techniques (cognitive, behavioral, analytical, EMDR) to challenge negative perceptions that thwart us from a meaningful and fulfilling life.
Our growth brings positive change! Today you are one step closer to a new you as you reach out for support and guidance with the realization that something isn't working effectively in your relationship with yourself and others. In a safe, caring and respectful environment I work with individuals, couples, and families toward creating more fulfilling lives. When we seek compassionate professional help at difficult times in our lives we are valuing ourselves and our relationships so that we can get what we need and deserve.

My practice consists largely of adolescents and young adults. My greatest assets are - an ability to connect with people in an accepting, non-judgmental and empathic way. Many young people today seek guidance and a better understanding of who they are and what they are feeling, their instinctive reactions and how to better understand themselves and gain from this crucial insight. Helping them through this life-changing learning process is my forte.

Now accepting new clients in my practice as of 12/18/23 - If you've experienced trauma that caused you to suppress, avoid, and close yourself off from the world - to deny your needs & make yourself small - I feel you. I tried coping with trauma by turning against myself, and it only increased the shame and isolation. I'm sure there's a part of you who is curious about finding another way, who realizes you are more than your struggles. Together, we can experiment with changing your relationship to your anxiety, OCD, trauma, and identity concerns, so you can reconnect with what you need to live a rich and fulfilling life.

Life Coaching Therapists

What can I expect from life coaching?

Clients and coaches will typically start by identifying the problem area(s) that the client hopes to address—then, the coach will help the client brainstorm potential solutions and explore concrete techniques to help the client attain their goals. Coaching is typically short-term and focused on finding solutions in the here and now, rather than exploring a client’s past. In addition to strategies aimed at the client’s specific concerns, coaches may encourage general stress management techniques such as meditation.

Can a life coach help treat anxiety?

Because the majority of life coaches are not licensed clinicians, they are not qualified to diagnose or treat anxiety. Anyone struggling with anxiety or another mental health condition should seek help from a licensed mental health practitioner. However, some coaching clients who struggle with subclinical anxiety report that working with their coach on other problems—such as career dissatisfaction or unhealthy habits—has a positive effect on their anxiety.

Can life coaching be done online?

Yes. While life coaching often happens in person, many coaches conduct sessions over the phone or via online platforms such as Zoom or Skype. Because life coaches are not subject to local licensing regulations in the same way that therapists are, they are able to see clients who live in other locations.

How long does life coaching last?

Life coaching tends to be a shorter-term process than therapy, though it does not always unfold over a specific period of time and is instead based on the coach’s or the client’s preferences. Coaching often takes place over three to 12 months but may be shorter or longer if necessary.
