Welcome to my practice of soul coaching and mentoring. Sometimes we reach a plateau in our lives where we have come a long way, feel a sense of accomplishment, but at the same time feel as though there's something essential missing in our lives. We have found a way to keep our heads above water, but treading water gets tedious and uninspiring. In my soul coaching sessions, you will learn how to connect with your life purpose, and how your greatest natural abilities can bring you fulfillment and a sense of wholeness.

In her personal life, Tarn enjoys spending time with family-(including her dog and cat), outdoor activities, creating music and art, meeting new people, exploring new places and she has an immense love of animals and the ocean.
Tarn was adopted and raised in Southern Vermont on a farm. She has always loved helping others so the decision to become a therapist came easy. She first attended Community College in Vermont before continuing on to earn a BA in Sociology from Smith College in Northampton, MA. Tarn then attended the Smith College School for Social Work where she earned a Masters in Social Work (MSW). She has since worked in a variety of positions throughout her career which have assisted her in becoming an eclectic therapist with a wealth of knowledge in several facets of social work and life.

As an experienced psychologist, healthcare team leader, Buddhist, life guide, husband and father, I have a broad perspective on how to live a happy, ethical life. Our lives are replete with both pleasant and unpleasant experiences. We will experience both whether we want to or not. Living our lives with compassion, gratitude, friendliness, and equanimity, we can set ourselves free from suffering. While unpleasant experiences are inevitable, suffering is optional. To live our lives gracefully—in spite of everything—is attainable. Love yourself. Spirituality is a key component on the path to happiness and joy.

As a life coach and therapist our work together is about having focused, intentional conversations. The intention is an agreement between us to create a specific journey together to reach your goal. The goal can be anything you wish to move toward in your life. It could be about getting more of what you want in your relationships from partnering to parenting, goals for work or school etc., or more peace, confidence, purpose and direction for your life’s path.

I offer my experience and knowledge, not as an expert of your life and what you should do, but as a collaborator and guide to explore and assist in gaining deeper understanding of yourself.
I help individuals and couples find the tools to become unstuck, to be more effective, to deepen connection, navigate differences, build emotional skill and intelligence, move through gridlock, and to learn and grow individually and in relationship. I support people with increasing capacity to cope with stress, manage anxiety and depression, find meaning, and manage the impact of complex trauma on one’s ability to maintain fulfilling connections and to live a fulfilling life. Working with, and holding safe space for, the diversity who we are and how we love, is my deepest commitment, honor, and practice.

Life Coaching Therapists

What can I expect from life coaching?

Clients and coaches will typically start by identifying the problem area(s) that the client hopes to address—then, the coach will help the client brainstorm potential solutions and explore concrete techniques to help the client attain their goals. Coaching is typically short-term and focused on finding solutions in the here and now, rather than exploring a client’s past. In addition to strategies aimed at the client’s specific concerns, coaches may encourage general stress management techniques such as meditation.

Can a life coach help treat anxiety?

Because the majority of life coaches are not licensed clinicians, they are not qualified to diagnose or treat anxiety. Anyone struggling with anxiety or another mental health condition should seek help from a licensed mental health practitioner. However, some coaching clients who struggle with subclinical anxiety report that working with their coach on other problems—such as career dissatisfaction or unhealthy habits—has a positive effect on their anxiety.

Can life coaching be done online?

Yes. While life coaching often happens in person, many coaches conduct sessions over the phone or via online platforms such as Zoom or Skype. Because life coaches are not subject to local licensing regulations in the same way that therapists are, they are able to see clients who live in other locations.

How long does life coaching last?

Life coaching tends to be a shorter-term process than therapy, though it does not always unfold over a specific period of time and is instead based on the coach’s or the client’s preferences. Coaching often takes place over three to 12 months but may be shorter or longer if necessary.
