All of us are striving to be true to ourselves and our loved ones around us. Feeling authentic and true to who we are can assist us in living life the way we would like to. Sometimes, our mood-related difficulties and our life experiences can get in the way our authenticity. You could be experiencing mood-related difficulties as a reaction to grief, trauma, depression, substance use, chronic illnesses, identity issues, cross-cultural issues, and relational difficulties, which I specialize in working with.

We all have multidimensional stories that make up our life, and we make choices that match the best version of ourselves.
I believe that we all have an inherent ability to heal deeply, oftentimes we just need a safe environment to begin to open and step on this healing journey. When we realize that disoriented parts of ourselves cause imbalance and problems, the awareness itself leads the way to becoming whole and come home to ourselves. As we move through the story of life in time and space, we carry the past to the present and the present to the future. Our bodies – physical and subtle hold so much of our stories beneath the surface. My goal, using somatic-based approaches, is to help you reattune to our existential wisdom and bring lasting change.

I work with a range of presenting concerns including life transitions, self-esteem, shame, racial/ethnic identity development, relationship conflict, depression, anxiety, and group therapy.
I believe that people are experts in their own lives. We all have strengths that sometimes are not apparent to us, but we can learn to identify them. As we connect to our internal experiences, we discover that our thoughts and beliefs about the way things are might be more workable than we had previously believed. My approach when working with people is to be collaborative and relational. I meet clients wherever they are in their journey and we work together to identify goals that help them lead meaningful lives. As your therapist, I look to create a safe space, be fully present, and listen deeply with non-judgment.

I am a licensed social worker working with individuals of all ages with challenges of depression, anxiety, trauma, grief/loss, life changes/transitions, relationship difficulties, work/life balance, and more.
Taking the brave step of going to therapy can be extremely difficult. But it can also be very rewarding. I am committed to helping my clients find peace and acceptance through understanding themselves and exploring their life experiences. Together we will navigate challenges one faces today in order to move towards a better present and future. Creating an environment of acceptance so clients feel safe to be vulnerable is very important to me. I take an authentic and empathetic approach to meet my clients where they are and work with them to reach their mental health goals through honest reflection and productive conversation.

I believe therapy is a collaborative experience where the participant guides the process at their preferred pace. I have experience working with individuals, couples and families. I aim to provide a non-judgemental space that supports personal growth. I invite all forms of creative expression and the use of symbolism/ metaphors as tools for reflection. I acknowledge that humans have multiple intersectional identities and belong to many systems that may impact their therapeutic exploration. I hope to bring transparency and compassion to each interaction.

Life Coaching Therapists

What can I expect from life coaching?

Clients and coaches will typically start by identifying the problem area(s) that the client hopes to address—then, the coach will help the client brainstorm potential solutions and explore concrete techniques to help the client attain their goals. Coaching is typically short-term and focused on finding solutions in the here and now, rather than exploring a client’s past. In addition to strategies aimed at the client’s specific concerns, coaches may encourage general stress management techniques such as meditation.

Can a life coach help treat anxiety?

Because the majority of life coaches are not licensed clinicians, they are not qualified to diagnose or treat anxiety. Anyone struggling with anxiety or another mental health condition should seek help from a licensed mental health practitioner. However, some coaching clients who struggle with subclinical anxiety report that working with their coach on other problems—such as career dissatisfaction or unhealthy habits—has a positive effect on their anxiety.

Can life coaching be done online?

Yes. While life coaching often happens in person, many coaches conduct sessions over the phone or via online platforms such as Zoom or Skype. Because life coaches are not subject to local licensing regulations in the same way that therapists are, they are able to see clients who live in other locations.

How long does life coaching last?

Life coaching tends to be a shorter-term process than therapy, though it does not always unfold over a specific period of time and is instead based on the coach’s or the client’s preferences. Coaching often takes place over three to 12 months but may be shorter or longer if necessary.
