I have devoted my clinical work to assisting adult individuals with a broad spectrum of concerns. In more than two decades in the field of mental health, I have served as a crisis counselor, clinical supervisor of a substance abuse program, an ER social worker, a forensic social worker - and currently as a clinical therapist. In addition, I have more than a decade of experience as an adjunct professor teaching Psychology, Sociology, Social Diversity and Marriage & Family. I believe this has given me a unique insight into the many issues that people struggle with - and an ability to help from a variety of perspectives.

As a 3rd generation social services worker, I often joke that I was born into this field. I cannot imagine myself in any other profession. This is all I have ever wanted to do. With that being said, I was also born into a society that often refuses to accept the necessity for therapy. Especially for men and people of color. Part of my aim as a clinician is to dispel some of the bias towards seeking help for mental health issues. If you had an injured limb, you would seek out help. If you had contracted a virus, you would seek out help. Why should seeking out help for emotional and mental illness be any different? It should not!

I am Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has spent my entire career working to understand why mental health is just as important as our physical and spiritual health. Our staff are licensed in Illinois and have specialized training in areas of trauma, anxiety disorders, substance use disorders, and mood disorders. Some other areas of expertise include crisis intervention, family and couples counseling, and group counseling. In addition, we have created and facilitated several groups and utilize a cognitive-behavioral and trauma-informed approach in working with clients. We also view our clients holistically, which considers all aspects of a person's life. Rather than treating just the symptoms, this approach looks deeper and tries to uncover underlying causes.
