Together, we can create a beautiful, balanced life.
I work with adults and adolescents who are struggling with issues related to identity and self esteem. I want to empower you and help you gain a better sense of self, understand your boundaries, broaden your perspective and improve your daily experience. In working together, we can address the makeup of your body, mind and soul and how they interact with one another. I believe that our minds and physical bodies are all a part of one system, which is also known as embodiment - how the mind influences the body and how the body influences our thoughts, emotions and intentions.

I've assisted this process with many, across diverse cultures and under varied life circumstances.
Finding yourself in deep personal distress may be an indicator that you're wanting (and ready for) change. A little exploration and understanding often improves your sense of self, which in turn, can deeply effect your work, play, relationships, and outlook on life. Seeking assistance with the process is a common human need and will often catalyze it. It begins by recognizing and honoring the signals of distress and understanding what may fuel them.

Are you feeling "out of sync," unmotivated, confused, lethargic, anxious, depressed? Are your relationships suffering? Your productivity at work? Your belief in yourself? When one area of your life is depleted, it can create imbalance in other areas of your life. This can include areas of emotional health, physical health, nutrition, sleep, relationships, work, money, and spirituality. My holistic approach addresses clients as a "whole" person...all aspects within yourself (biology, thoughts, feelings) and outside yourself (work, culture, relationships, finances, etc.). As a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and Certified Holistic Health Coach, I facilitate your body's own natural healing process.

I really enjoy seeing clients develop a more compassionate way of life, that enables them to live more fully present with their own experience.
Anxiety, again, don’t you ever take a break? Of course you don’t. Before work, at work, after work. Intense anxiety is hard. I get it, I’ve been there. It’s difficult to feel like you’re constantly pushing through each day, just trying to survive. Making matters worse, there’s no energy left to actually find a better way to live. If you're honest, sometimes It’s hard to believe that a path out of survival mode exists at all. Facing a challenge like anxiety alone is overwhelming.

Life unfolds presenting its challenges and we are often required to adapt and change. I have over 25 years of experience helping my clients at these important times. I actively participate in creating an environment that is safe and promotes healing and growth. I do this by striving to be attentive, supportive, challenging and compassionate while embracing the gifts, losses, struggles, irony and humor in life's situations. I help my clients cultivate self care by being good observers of themselves and their surroundings, asking hard questions, and showing compassion as they try different approaches and stay open to new possibilities.

Together we cultivate a combination of deep listening (to your past, present, and future), learning to trust and grow your internal wisdom (intuition); and rebuilding your connection with your internal and external resources to help you create the life you've imagined.
You and I meet when you have a notion that you want to be different. For whatever reason, you have found yourself seeking change in behavior, perspective, or attitude. Whether you feel alone or are lonely; in need of a healing, reflective mirror to other possibilities of yourself; want more depth in your relationships with self and others; or are needing to explore options of how to view and be in the world, this is a path we can walk together. I work best with people wanting to access the wisdom of their whole selves, people who are willing to entertain the opportunity and challenge of being, here, now. That's when you and I meet.

Imagine a life where you can harness your strengths and find more joy in life. You may be a family struggling with stressors related to uncertainty and changes. Your child's school may have reached out to you to discuss concerns related to their academic and social emotional wellness. You may find yourself questioning your relationship with your child and wondering what their behaviors are telling you. It might be difficult to get up in the morning and stay present throughout the day. That ray of sunshine may feel like it's far in the distance. If so, I am here to help your child, teen, and family.

By changing the individual's "thought reflex", they find that they are able to achieve a greater sense of focus in life.
My experience has allowed me to work with people from all over the world with both chronic and minor mental health concerns. As a clinician I have worked with people who have depression, anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorders, (PTSD)trauma and a history of family violence. My approach is primarily cognitive behavioral with a significant emphasis on the person's present. Those who would benefit are people who are looking at moving forward with their life with more deliberation and direction. Moving away from seeing themselves as the result of their circumstances but as the master of their being.

I have a great deal of experience helping young adults and professionals with life transitions.
I am a firm believer that making the decision to address your issues takes a great deal of courage and bravery. Many of us come from circumstances or environments that encourage us to push through pain by burying it, outworking it, or avoiding it. While these coping skills help us to survive, they don't necessarily encourage us to thrive. As a therapist with psychodynamic training and extensive life coaching experience, it is important to me that our sessions focus on identifying where core issues are coming from, encourage collaborative problem solving, as well as create space for intentional goal setting.

Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis are opportunities for children and adults to work through the challenges of anxiety and depression, as well as traumas such as loss or abuse, and the defeating patterns of human interaction that result in problems in interpersonal relationships. Both modes of treatment provide opportunities for children and adults to experience improvement in their abilities to consolidate their talents and skills and to work more effectively toward their life goals. Thetis Cromie earned a doctorate from the Divinity School of the University of Chicago and holds master's degrees from the Divinity School and the School of Social Service.

Life Coaching Therapists

What can I expect from life coaching?

Clients and coaches will typically start by identifying the problem area(s) that the client hopes to address—then, the coach will help the client brainstorm potential solutions and explore concrete techniques to help the client attain their goals. Coaching is typically short-term and focused on finding solutions in the here and now, rather than exploring a client’s past. In addition to strategies aimed at the client’s specific concerns, coaches may encourage general stress management techniques such as meditation.

Can a life coach help treat anxiety?

Because the majority of life coaches are not licensed clinicians, they are not qualified to diagnose or treat anxiety. Anyone struggling with anxiety or another mental health condition should seek help from a licensed mental health practitioner. However, some coaching clients who struggle with subclinical anxiety report that working with their coach on other problems—such as career dissatisfaction or unhealthy habits—has a positive effect on their anxiety.

Can life coaching be done online?

Yes. While life coaching often happens in person, many coaches conduct sessions over the phone or via online platforms such as Zoom or Skype. Because life coaches are not subject to local licensing regulations in the same way that therapists are, they are able to see clients who live in other locations.

How long does life coaching last?

Life coaching tends to be a shorter-term process than therapy, though it does not always unfold over a specific period of time and is instead based on the coach’s or the client’s preferences. Coaching often takes place over three to 12 months but may be shorter or longer if necessary.
