My life philosophy is simple. I approach life with dedication, integrity and a sense of humor. The latter always comes in handy. While a native Californian, I’ve been lucky enough to have lived in three different countries and have learned that no matter the land or language, people crave love and union. People are waiting to tell their story, be heard and accepted.

I enjoy working with clients who are ready to figure out how to be happpy. Barriers to happiness are not limited to the mental realm and may include physical issues, sexual issues, relationship issues, and spritual issues. These issues interrelate and thus must all be addressed as possible roadblocks to happiness. The symptom is not the cause and is often key in figuring out the cause. I believe in the power of the human beings to heal themselves. I see my role as helping identify, educate, and move past roadblocks to this process.

Cross-cultural counseling and research is my life's work. As a family-therapist/educator in the field of multicultural counseling I have the ability to see each client's cultural-context in various stages of life-cycle. My research on cross-cultural couple's adjustment and acculturation has been published in professional psychology journals and presented at international conferences. My approach is strength-based and collaborative, utilizing evidence-based practice and research. Aside from my private practice I serve as a cross-cultural consultant for medical professionals and agencies. I have been teaching and presenting on cross-cultural issues in the last 15 years.

I work with adolescents and young adults. I specialize in working with adolescents and young adults who are having a particularly difficult time with major life transitions. I also work with clients struggling with depression, anxiety, difficulties with relationships and individuals who are struggling with a particularly difficult period or event in their lives. Regardless of what i am helping a client with, my treatment begins and ends with the therapeutic relationship. My first priority in treatment is creating a safe, warm and caring environment for my client from which all other work is built on.

Individual therapy sessions take place masked or outdoors at your home, or via remote session.
