My approach to counseling is a scientific-model led, client collaborated, personal relationship focused. We meet, talk about what you want to talk about, and I will be there for positive support, processing, and to teach about symptoms and interventions. My ideal client is someone who comes to therapy in a time of need. They might be experiencing anxiety due to life changes and transitions or they might be experiencing symptoms of anxiety for the first time and be concerned as to where the anxiety came from. My ideal client will have needs such as needing to identify coping skills to get through life stressors, assistance with reaching goals. I assist clients who struggle with trauma, PTSD, anxiety, and depression and want to bring about change in their lives. I help clients who want to find a balance and stability within themselves to learn and reconnect to a more desired life.

If I were to say if I had a type of client, it would someone that wants help. If there is a need for me to work harder than the person coming for the therapy session, then maybe they just might not yet be ready to address some of the deeper-rooted issues that led them to step out and ask for help. I know I try to remain more attuned and aware that the readiness to change is key to the success of therapy for a client. I want to work in tandem with the person to reach the goals they have set for themselves.

There is a curious habit that I've noticed, especially when working with teens, that clients will mostly only work on the "issue of the week." This can have numerous benefits and can also delay the client's progress on any underlying concerns or patterns. Ideally, once a client has agreed to their treatment goals, they continue to take attainable steps towards that goal in therapy and in their daily life. When a client feels comfortable with their therapist to share their thoughts, emotions, and vulnerabilities, then deeper work can happen.

My ideal client is an individual who is open to working as a team and benefiting from a therapeutic relationship in which honesty, accountability, and empathy are paramount. While a client’s concerns are unique and personal, there is nothing they cannot overcome through effective therapeutic interventions and a highly-trained and relatable clinician.

I have extensive training with most psychological disorders and relationship issues through use of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). In addition, I have developed a specific interest in treating obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) and all other anxiety disorders. During my training and practice, I have gathered experience in both intensive and traditional outpatient settings.
