About
Making the decision to begin psychotherapy can be
difficult. "Am I really crazy?", "My parents want me to go" or "The last time I went it was useless," are typical obstacles that prevent someone from scheduling the first session. Therapy is making the first step towards improved self awareness. I point out to clients that therapy becomes a weekly safe place, away from their busy schedules, to focus solely on yourself. When this happens people are often surprised at what they discover.
I have special interest in working with children, adolescents, couples and families. I help clients of all ages transition through times of loss, stress related to school or work and relationship issues. I work with clients as they build their own toolbox of coping skills that help them to heal.
Along with individual therapy, I have led groups enabling clients to build self esteem, positive social skills, and reduce family and peer conflicts. I work with parents to strengthen limit setting and conflict resolution abilities. I also hold knowledge and training on dialectic behavior therapy to treat self harming behaviors.
