Most therapy issues stem from issues with control (ie. phobias, controlling others, being "a control freak," feeling controlled by others, uncontrolled thinking, uncontrolled behaviors, etc.). Being out-of-control is extremely uncomfortable, unpredictable, and unavoidable. In therapy we discuss different ways to relate to the concept of control by increasing psychological flexibility. Psychological flexibility is the ability to adapt to the inevitable uncertainties of life. With Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), I assist you in identifying your "stuck" points and making the necessary pivots towards living a life you love.

It is common to reach a point in life when you might feel overwhelmed or unsure of how to move forward. Perhaps you are having problems with relationships or are searching for better ways to cope with every day stressors. Life can present us with a myriad of challenges often causing us to feel dissatisfied and inadequate. My practice has lead me to work with youth, young adults, adults, and families facing some very challenging life situations and internal struggles.

I like working with adults and mature teens with a variety of mental health and relationship concerns. I have a relaxed, relational approach, and practice from a person-centered basis. I seek to know those that I see at a deep level, and believe that everyone is capable of understanding and changing aspects of themselves given a positive and supportive therapy environment. I believe that the first step to healing and growth is in our admission that we need help. Asking for help is not always easy when trust may have been violated or when society tells us to be strong and hold it together when the storms of life occur. When this happens, we tend to feel alone in our emotional pain and suffering, thinking and believing that no one understands what we are going through. We all need a safe place to uncoil, work through our difficulties and feel good about ourselves and our relationships with others.

Hello there! My name is Amanda and I work as a private practice counselor in lovely Grants Pass Oregon! I work with a wide array of individuals from many different backgrounds, for many different reasons. I have completed training to work with clients in many different areas, such as Crisis and Trauma, Military Veterans, Active Service Members, and their Families, as well as Couples and Marriage Counseling, and treat everything from Depression and Anxiety to Addictions and Suicidal Thoughts. I really have a passion for this work, and equally enjoy working with people in any way I can.
