I have worked in the mental health field since 2019 and have a strong background in assessment as well as DBT and CBT focuses. I primarily work with people who struggle with anxiety, depression, bipolar, and BPD. For me, the focus of behavioral health treatment is balancing between acceptance and change - working hard together to embrace the things we cannot control, and problem-solve the things that we can. In addition to processing, cognitive reframing, and challenging thoughts, I place a strong value in skills-based psycho-education. My name is Kala, and I am a clinical counselor/ therapist. I feel blessed to work with people and have hopes to navigate everyone’s personal journey of healing. My history with addiction and mental health is through my very close relationships in life as well as my own personal experiences. I am a Christian and truly believe each person’s life has purpose. I am a licensed clinical social worker with over 10 years of experience in counseling as wll as teaching undergraduate and graduate social work students. I have worked with both adult and children who have experienced trauma, abuse, depression, anxiety, LGBTQ issues and concerns, family conflict, domestic violence, and substance use disorders. My passion is to empower individuals to find their path and their happiness, so they are able to move forward.

I own a candle store that I share with a tattoo artist. We have candles, tattoos, and counseling all in one location. I believe in making mental health services more accessible and welcoming. I try to meet my clients where they are and discover where they want to be. Aromatherapy, music, visualization, and an emphasis on recovering all that is lost when traumatized are at the center of my approach. We work together to remember the things loved most before trauma.

I enjoy working with teens and their parents. I have experience working with adults with depression anxiety and trauma.
