Our goal at Hyacinth Wellness is to help clients identify obstacles and understand their needs and strengths to achieve personal growth and success within relationships and life goals. We assess current life circumstances, family and medical history, and the larger social context to promote self-awareness and a collaborative plan of growth and change.

Maybe you are unsure if you will ever be able to let go of the past or move forward from the people and events that have hurt you. You also may have realized that things from your past continue to affect you in the present, but are unsure how to address this. Healing from trauma can be a difficult journey, but you don’t have to do it alone. I believe you already have everything you need inside you to heal, and I will work with you to help you (re)discover that power. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of North Carolina, and a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) in Washington, DC. I received my Bachelors in Family and Community Services, Masters in Adult Education from East Carolina University and a Masters of Social Work from North Carolina State University. I have worked in mental health and substance abuse field since 2005. I enjoy working with individuals including adults and adolescents.

I work with adults and couples on a range of issues. I provide therapy to adults with a wide variety of issues. I use a combination of psychoanalytic, cognitive, and hypnotherapy techniques. One or all of these techniques might be right for you at any given time during the course of treatment. I believe that a strong therapeutic alliance is of utmost importance. I provide a safe atmosphere of non-judgment and empathy. My approach is warm, supportive, and collaborative. I enjoy helping individuals utilize their personal creativity to manage emotions and take on life's challenges.

I am a graduate of Argosy University, where I completed my Doctorate of Education in Counseling Psychology with a concentration in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Substance Abuse Treatment. My dissertation, "Barriers in Substance Abuse Treatment for Women", highlighted the difficulties women experience in seeking Substance Abuse treatment, and how to overcome these barriers to successful treatment outcomes. Also a graduate of Trinity University in Washington, DC, I earned a Masters in Community Counseling.

Hello and Welcome! My name is Waltrina. I am an independently licensed clinician in Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia. I have over ten years of experience in mental health and addictions counseling. I am a graduate of Howard University and Boston University School of Medicine. I specialize in working with children, adolescents, adults, and families. I use a person-centered approach emphasizing the importance of the therapist/client relationship, along with a cognitive behavioral approach to explore the thought patterns related to the challenging emotions and behaviors.

Sherika Elliott is a licensed clinical social worker. Working collaboratively, Sherika helps patients identify the stressors posing a barrier to their quality of life. From there, she helps patients identify the root causes of these issues and identify any behaviors that may be perpetuating the problem. Sherika sees her role as being there to assist the patient and offering accountability for change. In the session, Sherika takes her time establishing the therapeutic relationship, listening to each individual’s concerns, symptoms, and struggles. Her goal is to spread the love so her patients’ hearts can be touched by insight .
