I want to help each of my clients find a sense of health - emotionally, physically, and sexually. My clients are unique individuals with unique needs. They are HNW/UHNW, professionals, entertainers, actors, therapists, professional athletes, politicians, power couples, and others who require an extra level of privacy, confidentiality, and discretion. They find themselves surrounded by "yes people", so the directness and honesty of our work together is a refreshing change.

I approach therapy with the intent to get to know you on a core level. This includes understanding your feelings, thoughts, behaviors, desires, and relationships. We then collaboratively use this information to make meaning of your experiences both past and present. I pay attention to your emotional presence and seek to understand how your past experiences may be leading you to protect yourself from vulnerability and uncomfortable feelings. This understanding can help you engage more actively with yourself and enriches your interpersonal relationships.

Therapy shouldn't have to be complicated - it's really about sitting down and talking with another person. What is most crucial - perhaps even more important than credentials and education - is that you feel comfortable with your therapist; otherwise, the therapy won't work. I am a licensed marriage and family therapist (in Texas and California) as well as a certified alcohol and drug counselor. I have been in practice since 1994 and work with individuals, couples, families, and adolescents.

I view therapy as a deeply transformative experience where people may discover more of who they are and ultimately find a greater sense of peace. Our suffering is often a result of a complex set of circumstances involving our sense of self, our relationships with others, our thoughts, and our feelings. I believe each person deserves to be understood in all of his or her complexity. As a LPC in Austin, TX, it is my passion to work with individuals who are dealing with situations, behaviors or relationships that are causing them distress. I work with clients to create a highly-individualized treatment plan. I use an integrative approach, incorporating interpersonal and attachment-based interventions, as well as mindfulness, and trauma-informed modalities. Dr. Darla Absher is a a Licensed Professional Counselor, Supervisor LPC-S #62089, located in Austin and Bastrop, Texas. Dr. Absher treats the full spectrum of disorders and life adjustments. I received my Master of Arts in Counseling from St. Edward's University, in Austin, Texas in August 2005. In 2003, I received my Master of Arts in Human Services from St. Edward's. In 2001 I graduated from St. Edward's University with a Bachelor of Arts with a concentration in Psychology. In December 2011, I graduated from Argosy University in Dallas, Texas with a Doctor of Clinical Psychology.
