By creating a judgement free space and empowering the client, I aim to engage adults, children, and teens in centering themselves, processing their experiences, and advocating for their needs. I also have experience working with people impacted by disabilities and systemic trauma.

My experience over the past 20 years as a spiritual care provider and an addictions counselor influences how I view grief, trauma, and healing. I understand how being human can be a struggle and the experiences through stages of life and other transitions are not always in our control. A compassionate presence has a significant impact to ease the overwhelm and distress that are natural during these times. I trust that as we learn to navigate and unwind traumatic experiences, we will also create new sustainable conditions to live with a greater sense of understanding and wellbeing.

Human development is a lifelong process, where each moment of life, every human being is in a state of personal evolution. By taking consideration of the bio-psycho-social, spiritual, and cultural factors that shape us, clients provide a unique perspective into their identity, as well as finding their place in the world. I specialize in helping those that feel dysregulated, stressed, anxious, and activated by their environment, find a sense of calm; knowing a sense of calm will help our healing and health. About me: therapy is my second career, immediately preceded by a decades-long career in wildland firefighting, forestry protection, land resource management, and building. I find the natural sciences + biological sciences to be an incredibly rich combination when viewing a person in their environment.

I have experience working with clients from 10 years old through adulthood. I enjoy providing therapy for people who are experiencing Depression, Bipolar Disorder, Anxiety, OCD, or psychotic disorders like Schizophrenia and Schizoaffective disorder, as well as people who have a history of traumatic life events or current difficult transitions. I work with people who are seeking more enjoyment out of their lives, or who feel that their mental health creates limitations for them. Helping people improve their quality of life is my ultimate goal.

Our systems – from our own bodies to the family and societal systems of which we are a part – are incredibly resourceful and complex. They carry templates and memories of past emboided and inter-generational experiences. And while our systems are adaptive and responsive, sometimes their best attempts at solving life’s challenges fall flat. In some cases, particularly where there has been acute or developmental trauma, old templates provoke pernicious repetitions – such as immobility in behaviors/relationships, or replacement of one unhelpful behavior/relationship for another equally unsatisfactory one.

My name is Aimee Lang (previously Volkman), and I am a licensed clinical professional counselor (LCPC). I have a varied clinical background focused on working with children, adults and families who are struggling with life changes, anxiety, depression, PTSD, divorce, autism, attachment and existential crisis.

Throughout life we are faced with obstacles that can leave us feeling stuck, overwhelmed and defeated.
