I’m a firm believer that everybody has the internal resources to live an authentic and fulfilling life. Sometimes, we have experiences that makes it challenging to access those resources, or our coping strategies that once worked well are no longer serving their purpose. My goal is to create a therapeutic space that is non-judgmental and safe, ultimately helping clients find insight into their lives.

We could all benefit from support at times. Someone who is willing to listen. Someone to provide an outside perspective. We can work together to help you stay connected to your positive parenting skills, your need to find calm or perhaps work through a past trauma. I approach the therapeutic relationship with authenticity, warmth, humor and non-judgment while meeting clients where they are. My approach is collaborative and curious, placing you as the expert of your own life while offering insight, compassionate support and holding space for vulnerability throughout the healing process. As a seasoned psychotherapist with over 25 years of experience, I work with both individuals and couples and specialize in working with women. I am experienced and comfortable working with a variety of concerns including anxiety, relationship difficulties, trauma, stress, depression and life transitions. Grief and losses of all types are special interests. It is certainly not necessary though to have identified a problem, as I also work with people who are feeling stuck or unfulfilled in life to find ways to move forward differently. Couples most often contact me to work through relationship problems and restore connection.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor who has been practicing as a therapist since 2015. I currently work in private practice with Insight Therapeutic Services. I have served in a variety of settings including non profit agencies, inpatient and residential treatment, crisis intervention programs, school settings, as well as private practice. I am passionate about strengths-based, trauma-informed counseling for children, adolescents, and adults in a comfortable and welcoming private practice setting. I am currently providing services via telecounseling.

Each person experiences mental distress uniquely. My aim is to partner with my client to ensure their safety in our shared space, create a bond of trust, and then dive into problems and solutions. Whether one experiences identity- or event-based problems and whether those are caused by individual development or social conditions, I strongly believe in the innate ability of trusting partnerships to overcome the troubles in our lives. If I'm not the right therapist for a person, I will work hard to keep them safe until they decide how to move forward.

I infuse this work with Mindfulness concepts and practices when appropriate to the client's needs. My name is Hilary Viens and I am a clinically licensed social worker (LICSW) and therapist in Vermont & Florida. I have 17 years of experience working in clinical social work settings and I am passionate about the field of mental health. I obtained a Master’s degree in clinical social work from Smith College in 2005. Since obtaining my MSW, I have worked in many settings providing crisis stabilization, therapeutic services, supervision, and community advocacy. In addition, I have specialized training in working with folks experiencing the following: intimate partner violence (IPV), histories of incarceration, and/or extreme states.

Sometimes, the things that we think of as our "shortcomings" or "flaws" are actually just a product of modern day society, where we are often told how we should behave, think, and feel from moment to moment. My goal is to help you discover your true needs, desires, and feelings, and distinguish them from those imposed onto you by external pressures.
