After passing the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy State License Exam, I have dedicated time and energy serving individuals, couples, and families adjusting to life's difficulties. I have specific focus in relational conflicts, emotional disturbances, and disordered eating. My approach centers on thoughts (language of the mind) and emotions (language of the body) that determine behaviors and impact the choices we make.

As humans we are all susceptible to depression, anxiety, low self-esteem and degraded self care. We can all fall victims to relationship problems, grief and confusion navigating through life with its ever changing twists and turns. I opened my practice with the desire to give clients a nonjudgmental, safe and welcoming environment in order to work on overcoming these life obstacles when they interfere with ones happiness and clarity.

Life can be hard, overwhelming, and scary. This often leads to us feeling out of control and adrift, searching for solid ground. Maybe you have felt this way for a while or this is a new feeling. You’ve tried to manage this feeling on your own, but you’ve come to the realization that it’s time to reach out for help. You’ve taken the first step by seeking out therapy. I strongly believe that we all have the capacity to heal and grow within ourselves, but we often need outside support to help us reach and utilize those inner resources. These are coaching sessions as opposed to counseling. I won’t be asking about your mom or dad and relating anything psychological to current functioning. Rather, we set action steps and goals, like an accountability coach. Small, attainable action steps to reach an overall goal. If at any time you state that there is trauma history or psychological issues that need attention, I will immediately refer you to a social worker, counselor, or other mental health professional to suit those needs. If you need further clarification on the distinction between a life coach and counseling, please do not hesitate to ask.

Evidence shows that understanding of our strengths and deficits helps us turn negative and habitual patterns of thought and behavior into healthy ones. Counseling provides us with new and constructive pathways out of repetitive, self-defeating patterns; and provides us with new perspectives and tools with which to address life's challenges/obstacles effectively and constructively. Together we work through seemingly impossible impasses to a deeper/solid sense of fulfillment and well-being, internally and inter-personally. Helping clients adopt healthful habits by tapping into their own inner compass and hidden gifts is one of many privileges of my profession.

I have found it an honor to play a role in the lives of those who have entrusted me with the truth of their internal world and the unique experiences that shape and enrich their lives. I always am amazed as I hear stories of pain and obstacles and strengths from clients. While it is intense work at times, it is very rewarding for clients to encounter the experiences of the past and present with support in the "here and now". Helping those with a history of trauma, losses/grief and the after-effects like depression, anxiety, dissociation and addiction, and relationship issues is very meaningful to me.
