Are you suffering from anxiety, depression or insomnia? Often we find unhealthy ways to cope with our stress in all forms of addiction. All of us carry some form of trauma from our past. As children and young adults, we store misguided beliefs about ourselves, the world and those around us. We carry these over into our adult lives and consistently limit ourselves and our relationships by living in the same repeated pattern.

This is all part of being human! Unfortunately, life doesn't come with an instruction manual so it can be challenging to figure out the best way to move forward. I believe that people have the inherent ability to heal, and even thrive, especially when they have support to address those times in life that have been challenging.

I love my work. I enjoy helping people change their lives and become happier and more peaceful. I admire the courage and enthusiasm of my clients, and their willingness to do things differently to be happy and gain more satisfaction from their lives. I do three things in my private practice: 1) General counseling for the "worried well." * 2) Mental Training and peak performance consultation/coaching for athletes of all ages, as well as performers and business people. 3) Coach the "Spirited Walkers" marathon training group (an 8 month program to coach and train people to walk the Eugene and Portland Half/Full marathons.

Our relationship to ourselves, others and the world are all intimately connected. Few of us walk through life without significant challenges that require us to grow, heal and change. As a therapist my purpose is to create a trusting respectful relationship with clients, whether dealing with trauma, depression, anxiety, loss, or relationship issues. My approach is tailored to meet the needs of each client's unique situation, using traditional and alternative interventions and may be either short or long term. Of particular interest to me is working with couples through counseling and powerful group workshop models.

I moved to Corvallis from NYC in 2013. While in New York I trained at the Albert Ellis Institute in Manhattan where I gained expertise treating anxiety, depression, and stress reduction in adults and adolescents using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT). I received my PhD from Yeshiva University - Albert Einstein College of Medicine in NYC, and I received my M.S. in counseling psychology from Loyola University, where my area of clinical focus was in the treatment of PTSD and anxiety.

I focus on helping people change unhappy patterns in their lives and find relief from suffering. I primarily utilize a psychodynamic approach which means helping clients gain insight into the dynamics of maladaptive patterns that have evolved in their lives. Gaining insight is often the first step, or the foundation, of positive change.
