In addition to conducting psychological evaluations, I specialize in providing individual psychotherapy to adults, college students, adolescents, and children. Some of the issues I work with include depression, anxiety, life changes, mood disorders, and relationship problems. I am an ally to the LGBTQ+ population and treat clients from all walks of life.

I have worked more than 30 years with people struggling with some type of mental health symptoms and/or substance related disorders. My own therapy experiences have led me to know there are no limits to the hope available to us all; to overcome adversity, to build resiliency, and to move towards health. I believe that we all long for health and connection. I've experienced and witnessed the power of the human spirit to overcome adversity, to expand self-awareness and self acceptance, and to initiate and achieve astounding and lasting change in their lives.

You've been in therapy before. While it was, hopefully, a positive experience, you keep finding yourself dealing with the same patterns and issues time and time again. You have insight into the "why" but seem to struggle with translating that to the more permanent changes you desire. You sense that there's a disconnect, and you're exactly right! As a veteran, I've seen people in all forms of crises and facing all manners of difficulties in their lives. Working through marital and family crises, life transitions, career changes, severe traumas, depression, anxiety, and all manners of things was an every day experience for us and learning to cope with these issues can be difficult. Finding jobs, mending relationships, getting through depression - all things that can be worked on and I would love to help.

I recognize that the most important aspect to an effective treatment is the quality of the relationship between the client and therapist. Through this collaborative approach, the client and I, identify their strengths and build on these characteristics through therapy. We identify areas in the individuals' life which are not useful or producing an undesirable outcome-such as self-destructive behavior, poor communication skills. And those who feel trapped or unfulfilled within in a relationship. I work with clients to develop an individualized plan to create change within their current life situation. I implement accountability into the counseling process, establishing check-ins with clients to ensure progress and success.
