I am a fellowship trained sex therapist, studying under Dr. Eli Coleman, the nation's first endowed Chair in Sexual Health. One of the most important factors I have learned is that sexual health is very complex. However, it is important to understand that sexual concerns are best viewed within a couples framework. Addressing sexual concerns from this perspective helps to alleviate feelings of guilt & blame. This is done by working with individuals to help create an intimate team approach to therapy. My clinical interests are in male and female sexual dysfunction, compulsive sexual behavior/sex addiction, and relationship therapy.

My story is a bit unique as to how I became a psychotherapist. I studied abroad in Costa Rica during college where I learned the Spanish language and where my love of adventure and exploration began. After moving to Los Angeles for several years, I decided to then move to New York City to pursue a career in music which is my first love. I was living in NYC and working for Sony Music on September 11, 2001 which changed my life dramatically. I decided to return to The University of Texas in Austin and obtained my Masters in Social Work in an effort to pursue a career in helping others which is my second love.

I see clients with a range of psychological issues, such as anxiety, depression, stress, anger, deconstructing painful religious history or background. Most of my clients are adults ranging from 20 to 80+. I am a Clinical Psychologist with advanced training in psychopharmacology or psychiatric medication management. This allows me to practice psychotherapy and also evaluate, educate and suggest medications that may be helpful in your treatment. If medication is appropriate most of my clients do not see a psychiatrist, they usually return to their family physician for their medication needs. Many take less medication over time.

I have 34 years of experience treating a broad range of problems in individual, couple and group settings. I employ various treatment methods depending upon the individual needs of each client. It is gratifying to observe the positive changes in depressed clients as they utilize new cognitive and behavioral skills to change or accept their situations. I also have extensive experience treating PTSD stemming from childhood sexual abuse or post-combat military experiences. I was recently the Supervising Psychologist for an excellent residential substance abuse treatment center.
