Hi! I'm Lesa Parker. I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Pennsylvania. I take an eclectic approach to therapy and believe in meeting clients where they are to form a relationship to create the best outcomes. I believe in the importance of understanding the reasons we think and feel the ways that we do, which often stems from our childhood and past experiences. I then believe that we can make a conscious decision to change this. I use various techniques in therapy, such as CBT, psychodynamic techniques, active listening, solution-focused therapy, grief counseling, and trauma-informed therapy.
I try to create an environment where everyone is welcome and feels accepted. Everyone's feelings are real and should not be disregarded. Feeling validated is important. I also believe in being direct with clients. I challenge clients to consider situations from various perspectives at times in an attempt to solidify their decisions.
I discuss the importance of goal setting during the first session to ensure that clients and I are on the same page. I recognize that goals may change several times during therapy as new situations arise and that additional issues are revealed, and I am flexible with this process.
