Hello, I am Leonard Uchendu, a LCSW in the State of MI. I have 12 years of experience using CBT in treatment focusing on Mood, Affect, self-regulation and cognitive reframing. I help clients develop resilience, psychological and cognitive flexibility to function optimally. I work with formerly incarcerated clients and several clients from underserved communities. I help them address their wide range issues such as trauma, stress, complicated grief, Anxiety, anger, depression life transition, compulsive impulsivity, chronic disease, physical pain, addiction issues, suicide thoughts, relationship issues and sexual behavior problems.
My therapy room provides you a safe space to explore your issues to develop resolutions. I provide empathetic responses, compassionate and unconditional positive regard to deepen sense of self. I create opportunity for self-exploration through facilitative questioning and engagement.
My goal as your therapist is to support you reach your goal. I assist my client jointly formulate client centered goals and objectives. In other words, I assist clients develop goals that make sense to them. I utilize SMART approach in goal setting. I adopt the principle that goal must be Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant and Time Bound.
