Discussing our concerns in therapy can be daunting, so my goal is to create a space where clients can be comfortable enough to engage with uncomfortable thoughts, emotions, and experiences. In my career I have worked at University Counseling Centers including NYU, Drexel, SJU, and Swarthmore, as well as with Veterans at the Brooklyn VA. Through these experiences I have worked with individuals from varied backgrounds who have come to work on a range of issues ranging from managing the difficulties of growing independence to the significant impacts of past traumatic experiences.
I conduct therapy as a conversational experience where together we set realistic goals that are based on reducing negative experiences and increasing positive experiences. In the end the goal is to both create new understandings and to provide new experiences, which combined lead to a new way of engaging with oneself, with others, and with the world.
The therapeutic relationship is potentially the most important aspect of any successful therapeutic experience. So, I encourage anyone to schedule a short meeting with me to determine whether we might be a good fit.
