Parent Training (PCIT)

Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) offers evidence-based and a step-by-step treatment module. The intervention uses a two-stage approach aimed at relationship enhancement and child behavior management. The parent is first taught relationship building skills to use during interactions with their children. The parent is then instructed in a positive discipline program including effective delivery of commands, with an appropriate parent response for child compliance and strategies designed to increase compliance. PCIT is offered in a group setting so that parents can build a support system including parents that are often dealing with similar behaviors.
