Despite our inherent need to search for meaning in life, none of us were given an instructional handbook on how to achieve happiness and well-being at birth. Even under the best of circumstances it is difficult to cultivate inner peace while navigating the difficulties of social expectations, residual childhood experiences, emotional regulation and forming social connections. When trauma is added to the equation, life becomes a constant act of coping instead of growing. If you feel like your journey has become wrought with indecision, impulsivity, or emptiness; it might be time to invite someone to walk alongside you.
I’m a licensed therapist with over 17 years of clinical experience and a subject matter expert in the field of trauma. Previously employed in a group home for 5 years helping adolescents with behavioral/addiction issues regain their freedom. I also worked in Hospice dealing with end of life issues. I’m certified in DBT and use a schema therapy approach.
Growth is rarely accomplished without confronting a degree of adversity and tolerating some discomfort. Much like a long, vigorous trek that started miles ago, a sense of accomplishment and gratitude flows afterwards. Resilience is achieved through recognizing and navigating our emotional reactions to life. We can examine the past to plot new patterns.
