About
I thoroughly enjoy my work with all of my clients, but especially my work with families and couples. My approach is relational, meaning I help clients understand "what happened" that is causing distress, rather than "what's wrong with you", as my clients have so often heard from other professionals. My therapy is trauma informed, even if trauma is not the presenting concern. I hold deep respect for all clients. The key to successful therapy is the therapeutic relationship, so this is my priority. I also provide both compassion and accountability for therapeutic goals.
I have extensive experience working with children and families. We talk about what is going well, in addition to changes they would like to see in the family. I offer education and support to help parents understand the needs of their children. Emphasis is placed on attachment and connection.
My 34 years as a therapist, teacher, consultant and Clinical Supervisor has offered rich experience working with a diversity of clients and presenting concerns. I have collaborated extensively with DHS, attorneys, teachers, physicians, and other community partners. I know the value and importance of understanding the larger context of client's lives.
