I hope to empower children, their parents, young people and adults who have learning and attention problems and the behavioral and emotional challenges that often go hand-in-hand with them. My focus is on helping my clients develop a strong sense of their own gifts and their ability to contribute to their families and communities. I provide comprehensive psycho-educational and psychological evaluations. I am no longer providing psychotherapy on an ongoing basis, but will provide short-term follow-up services for clients/families who have undertaken evaluations with me.

I believe each child and their family’s circumstances are unique. With support of personalized therapeutic approach and involvement of family, clients can work through their mental health struggles towards healing. My client centered therapeutic approach is guided by my doctoral and post-doctoral background in biomedical sciences and neuroinflammation. I support mental and emotional healing in children, adolescents, young adults and adults using interventions based on developments in the field of psychology and neurobiology. I am trained in EMDR, Sandtray-EMDR, TF-CBT and CAMS.

Here at Overcross Counseling and Equine Services LLC we work with clients with varying reasons for wanting to participate in counseling. We use our horse as co-facilitators to help engage our clients during the sessions. We provide learning appropriates for each learning style our clients may have as they work through and develop skills to help them reach their therapeutic goals. We want our clients to have a different approach to counseling as they find hope and watch themselves crossover into a pathway of happiness.

We are excited to bring a new type of agency for those we serve. We have recently re-furbished a building in the heart of downtown Coweta, OK. Our offices are private and plush with a calming atmosphere. Due to advanced technology, neuroscience and psychology has merged- enhancing greater awareness of how we as humans experience situations, and how these experiences enhance who we are as individuals and in relationships. This thing we call LIFE is a beautiful thing but there are times that we are challenged by things that can be very difficult. It could be something that is haunting us from our past that we need to work through so that we can have a better future. It may be something that is currently challenging you in your life to include; relationships, addiction, self-esteem, grief or a multitude of other things.

My primary clients are individuals between 2 - 21 years (Adults on a case-by-case basis). I work with children and their families to provide more information about current presenting social, emotional, and/or behavioral concerns through a thorough assessment (i.e., 5+ hours of direct assessment) and/or through counseling. In counseling, I alone cannot change the person once per week or every other week; parents are key to successful treatment by implementing appropriate strategies, support, and structure needed for improvement (i.e., there is work for the adults too!). I can also help with navigating the school system. So, "How can I help?"

My experience (15 years) in the educational field as a teacher of special education/regular ed/gifted ed, and as a school counselor, has been so beneficial in my private practice, (32 years) working with children/families. I see children, adolescents, adults individually, couples, and families. I have done Court ordered family therapies, ie parent/child reconciliation, therapeutic visitation and coparenting, for 22 years.
