These goals vary by individual; clients may present with goals to improve their academic or occupational functioning, foster healthier relationships, take control of powerful emotional responses, or (most commonly) to get answers about the sources of their struggles through psychological testing that we use to inform individualized treatment planning. I believe that behavior without context is meaningless. We blame ourselves too easily for things which go wrong whether they are within or beyond our control. Our natural guiding intuitions are overridden by years of social conditioning. In stressful situations, primitive reactions trigger and hijack our ability to make calm decisions. We overreact too often. Fear, anger, surrender, take over. We help you understand how behavior goes wrong. We then help you get unstuck from the inside out using psychotherapy for understanding, EMDR for healing traumas, and EEG-Biofeedback to train your brain to work at its best, even under duress.

I received a Master of Social Work from Tulane University, a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of New Orleans, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Writing Arts from State University of New York at Oswego. I have worked in community-based mental health as well as private practice. Before counseling, I taught in schools in New Orleans and Boston, working with students with disabilities. I am located in Ohio and am also licensed to practice virtually in Florida.

After years of providing a broad range of services, in the context of a traditional private practice office which I closed at the end of 2017, I began doing therapy online. I decided to do this to maintain a limited level of professional activity, available to select clients for whom the online service delivery platform would be appropriate. Services are available to children, youth, adults, and families, at the rate of $75 per 45-minute session and payable via PayPal.

Mental health issues that affect learning, such as Anxiety, Depression, ADHD, poor social skills, behavioral issues, stress management, poor organization skills, learning disabilities, self-esteem issues, and poor "adulting" skills are the most critical issues I evaluate for and/or treat. My primary services are psychological testing/diagnosis and counseling. I accept clients ages 3+ but specialize in working with ages 12+.

The Ohio University Psychology and Social Work Clinic (PSWC) is here to help with comprehensive assessment and therapy services. The PSWC is a supportive, affirming outpatient mental health clinic that is primarily staffed by doctoral student therapists of the OU Clinical Psychology program under the supervision of licensed psychologists. We offer evidence-based outpatient individual, family, and group therapy. In addition, the PSWC is able to provide comprehensive psychological and neuropsychological assessments for concerns such ADHD, learning disabilities, dementia, and more.

I complete psychoeducational evaluations and screenings to help parents and students better understand their learning patterns and needs. Through assessment, a student's learning struggle can be identified so that the right path of intervention and services can be put into place. I work with parents/students to plan out an evaluation that will encompass their concerns and provide answers.
