My focus is less on pathology and more on development; more on learning through adventure and experimentation than obsessively exploring past patterns.
I work with clients who feel stuck; stuck in the emotion and negative thoughts associated with life's stressors. Clients, who are beginning to realize that there will always be the struggle of relationships or money matters or health concerns or..., yet understand that they can begin to develop a different outlook, belief system.

Do you find yourself trying to make everyone around you happy but yourself? Do you try to intellectualize your way out of your feelings? Do you feel on edge or anxious most of the time? Our minds and bodies do a wonderful job of helping us survive traumatic experiences, but these survival techniques can also begin to impact our connection with ourselves, our relationships, our purpose, and much more. Through exploring past experiences, strengthening the mind-body connection, and continuing to be curious and compassionate towards self, we can begin to shift ourselves out of survival mode into a life we choose.

Life is hard. You might be struggling with depression, anxiety, relationships, PTSD or just the everyday life stressors of maintaining a work life balance. I'm here not only to offer you hope, but I can teach you how to tap into your own ability to heal. We are all born with a core essence of goodness; our true Self. When we learn how to nurture our innate qualities of compassion, confidence, clarity, curiosity, courage, creativity, connectedness and calm, it is then when we can truly heal. You may have lost some of these qualities of Self along the way, but I can help you rediscover them through my client centered approach.

As humans we experience suffering (painful emotional states). This is normal...but what happens when you feel stuck here; reliving old patterns from unhealed wounds? It's likely that your nervous system is overwhelmed and under-resourced in an increasingly stressful time. As you attempt to cope the best way you know how, you may turn towards substances, work excessively, fill your time with mindless distractions, obsessively worry, or find yourself isolating. You know theres a better way to live, and its okay to seek support. You were not born to suffer.

Through an existentialist, somatic, and experiential lens, I support clients in uncovering their internal wisdom, reclaiming their unique personal values, and learning to feel comfortable in their own skin.
Struggling to cope in our present world, with its broken systems, inequalities, and constancy of “faster” and “more,” does not make you crazy, broken, or wrong. It is an appropriate response to systems entirely out of balance. It does, however, mean that therapeutic support can be vital to personal well-being. I am passionate about supporting individuals in navigating these broken systems in their most authentic and meaningful approaches.

We provide neurodevelopmental evaluations that test for learning disorders and ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder evaluations, neuropsychological evaluations that look at brain functioning for those who have suffered a stroke, brain injury, or Alzheimer's, and psychological evaluations which can provide insight into the individual's behaviors and personality.
Our approach utilizes the biopsychosocial approach to evaluation and treatment; this means we strive to understand the biological, psychological, and social factors that influence the health and wellness of our clients. Our services are often referred to as "behavioral medicine" or "medical psychology;" this is due to taking a holistic approach in our treatment considering the whole person - physical, mental, emotional, and social. We often work collaboratively with other professions such as primary care physicians, occupational therapists, social workers, chaplains, and others who are important to one's individual network of care.

Learning to cope better “in the present“ is still affected by our past.
Hello ! So, here we are ……..welcome ! We all have what I call “holes in the soul”: hurts, regrets, anger, grief & loss, unmet needs that occur or have resurfaced. If we go too much in the past, we are depressed; if too much in the future, we are anxious. Improving the quality of our lives is not just in ‘surviving’, but in working to move beyond it to LIVE, with better coping skills & relatedness, more awareness, yet balanced and at peace. It's SO about nurturance, trust, & connection !

Education and Learning Disabilities Therapists

How effective is treatment for learning disabilities?

When initiated early and tailored to a child’s specific needs, learning disability treatment can be quite effective at helping a child cope with their disability, though its exact efficacy may depend on the severity of symptoms and whether comorbid disorders exist. Less is known about treatment initiated in adulthood, but it is certainly possible that an adult with a learning disability will see some improvement—or at the very least, identify workarounds and accommodations that could make symptoms less burdensome in day-to-day life.

When should someone seek treatment for learning disabilities?

It’s best to seek treatment as early as possible. Because learning disabilities often go unnoticed until a child starts school, or even until they’re a few years along, regular check-ins with teachers and doctors can help parents determine whether children are meeting milestones and keeping up with peers or whether an evaluation for learning disabilities may be warranted. And although earlier is always better, it’s never too late to be evaluated for learning disabilities and to seek treatment.

What happens if learning disabilities are left untreated?

Undiagnosed and untreated learning disabilities can be a source of significant frustration and shame for a child, who may feel that their challenges stem from a lack of intelligence or willpower. Such feelings can trigger low self-esteem, depression, or anxiety, which may push a child toward risky behaviors, including substance use. In adulthood, untreated learning disabilities can interfere with career success, and lingering feelings of self-doubt and shame can negatively affect someone’s mental health.

Are there medications for learning disabilities?

Currently, there are no medications designed to treat specific learning disabilities such as dysgraphia or dyscalculia. However, someone with a learning disability may be prescribed medication for a comorbid condition, such as anxiety, depression, or ADHD, which may have positive downstream effects on their learning disability; for example, a child with both ADHD and dyslexia may find that they’re better able to focus on their reading exercises after being prescribed a stimulant medication.
