Welcome! My name is Leah DeBoer (they/she pronouns), and I am happy to congratulate you on making a big step towards healing and wellness! As a therapist, I strongly believe in personalizing my approach to your specific needs, personality, and preferences. I believe in building a strong relationship because truthfully sharing vulnerable information requires trust. This is especially true for working through trauma and trauma responses - I do not expect you to share your entire trauma history day one of working together. I believe in judgement free practice where you come exactly as you are, and I will meet you where you are at.
I work closely with BIPOC and LGBTQIA2S+ folks as I am part of these communities. I am very passionate about working in an anti-oppressive manner and working with underserved communities. I work with any age group, but I am especially passionate about working with adolescents and young adults.
I understand that starting therapy and searching for a therapist can be intimidating, even if you have gotten therapy before. However, I am here to support you and help you clarify and reach your goals. If you are unsure of how this process goes - do not worry! We will take things as slowly as you need, and I will guide you through the process.
