Thinking about writing this profile, I wanted to make it simple........I'm an old-fashioned therapist with great boundaries and carefully-monitored ethics. Then I thought you might want to know more about me and my style of therapy! I bring warmth, sometimes humor, to our work together. I'm a good listener......I won't fall asleep or interrupt to discuss my own agenda. I won't tell you to divorce your spouse or to stop compulsively overeating. I will help you find your own solutions and offer support as you take, sometimes very challenging, steps towards healing.
I have been in private practice for 33 years, completely loving my work. Well, I won't exaggerate.....I'm not crazy about the business end of my work. I love doing therapy! I work with individuals (teens--90-years olds), couples and families; I offer adult, family-of-origin therapy. In addition, I offer Skype or phone sessions.
I help people with grief, depression, eating disorders, relationship issues, sexual abuse and PTSD. I have extensive post-graduate training in systems theory. That means I view individuals as healthy; they simply may be part of a system (marriage, family, workplace, social group) that is somehow out of balance.
