Children often do not have the words to express what they are feeling or thinking. Traditional talk therapy alone is rarely successful in helping children process difficult life situations. At Lawrence Play Therapy, therapists can work with your child and family to bring healing. Play therapy involves children exploring their thoughts and feelings by using play rather than just talking. The toys are the child's words and play is the child's language. We specialize in therapy with children ages 2 - 12. We also incorporate family therapy, Theraplay, and EMDR when appropriate.
Issues we commonly work with include: trauma, abuse, attachment, anxiety, depression, behavior problems, ADHD, divorce, parenting struggles, anger, grief/loss, and adjustment issues. The focus of our practice is providing mental health services that are effective but also cater to individual needs of the child and family.
