As a Connecticut licensed clinical psychologist for more than 40 years, I practice individual, couples, and group therapy. In my doctoral and post-doctoral training at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Yale University, and throughout my years of clinical practice, I have had extensive training in psychodynamic psychotherapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness and meditation.
I try to empathize with clients' feelings, and foster a safe, respectful, collaborative environment where in-depth exploration can occur. I can help you arrive at your own insights and conclusions. If you like, I can also offer suggestions to help translate insight into behavioral change.
My knowledge and experience with multiple treatment models help me and my clients find the most effective ways of working together.
I believe it is vital to recognize clients' strengths and encourage people to make the most of these strengths.
I believe growth in therapy is facilitated by my being open to, and welcoming of, clients' thoughts, feelings, questions and reactions to me and the way we are working together. This open communication with me can transfer to more authentic relationships with others.
