I have practiced in the Washington Metropolitan area since 1973. Trained by Drs. Aaron Beck and Albert Ellis, I have specialized training in cognitive-behavioral therapy and in the treatment of mood disorders. As a certified sex therapist I combine the application of psychological science with a compassionate, empathic approach to individuals and couples as they struggle with their problems in the area of sexual functioning and related difficulties.
Cognitive Behavior Therapy is a treatment approach that emphasizes a consumer-driven psychotherapy process. CBT tends to be short term and symptom focused. However CBT, when such work is appropriate, will also address underlying historical and personality issues that form the underpinnings of the presenting problems.
I am a Board Certified clinical psychologist providing short term, symptom-focused cognitive behavior therapy and behavioral interventions for the treatment of mood disorders (anxiety and depression), sexual, personality and relational problems.
