For the past 30 years I have worked with adolescents, adults couples and families facing a variety of life stressors My therapeutic approach is tailored to the individual needs of each individual, couple or family. I use insight oriented psychodynamic therapy as well as cognitive behavioral, and dialectical behavior therapy to help clients understand their feelings, thoughts and behavior and implement tools to increase resilience, restore their sense of self, and improve their. self- esteem My specialties include; anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, ADHD, adolescent and young adult adjustment issue, school difficulties, and the treatment of war zone trauma and trauma experienced by firefighters, and police.
I have received specialized training in evidence based treatments designed to treat anxiety, depression, and substance abuse disorders, as well as PTSD. I also do ADHD evaluations and work with families to develop plans to better manage behavior of ADHD children. My current practice includes work with many elderly and retired people.
I have a unique ability to engage clients in a trusting therapeutic alliance. I believe this to be the foundation of therapy, and the most important factor in achieving change. I worked for years for the Navy treating individuals and the families of individuals who have experienced war trauma.
