Hello, my name is Laurieanne (Lauri) Abernathy, I graduated from East Texas A&M University in 2012 in Community Counseling. I am a National Certified Counselor and a Licensed Professional Counselor and I have been practicing in Texas for over 14 years. I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy and Positive Psychology in my practice. I am an ally for the LGBTQIA+ community and a strong supporter of equality in all its aspects. I believe everyone is a person, and every person needs to be cared for, validated, and supported throughout whatever they're facing in their lives.
My preference is to focus on the LGBTQIA+ population, adolescents, and veterans, mainly because I do not think there is enough allies or counselors that prefer these populations, and the need is great.
i.e: depression, self-harm, anxiety, grief/loss, social competencies, anger, sexuality, religion, and infertility issues, to name a few.
