Over the past 30 years, a combination of diverse experiences and extensive training have made me the therapist I am today. I have always been interested in what makes us who we are. How much is nature or nurture, what are we born with and does the environment shape us. Psychotherapy provides a safe space for people to make meaning about their lives, the choices they make in school, work and love. Therapy is a process. Though there is often no simple, quick solution, it provides a safe space to explore in-depth, emotions, thoughts and actions to bring about change.
In 30 years of private practice, I've learned to begin where the person seeking help needs to start. Each person's narrative is unique. I listen, ask questions, explore the past and present. People repeat behaviors. The therapeutic challenge is to identify these patterns and change them.
In addition to working with individuals, couples and families, I run groups for midlife and older woman as well as college students and young adults. During these difficult transitions, I find people benefit from the support and insight offered by peers in a therapeutic environment
