I use evidence based approaches for couples who wish to resolve or manage conflicts in their relationships. The therapy aims to increase feelings of friendship, affection, respect, and intimacy. I provide a safe, supportive environment where new communication skills and enhanced feelings of mutual support are experienced.
I draw upon 40 years of experience working with individuals, families, and couples from various cultures and backgrounds. For work with couples, I use the evidenced based and very user friendly, practical approaches, described by John Gottman in his research with married couples. I also find emotionally focused approach researched by Sue Johnson to be useful
My experience has taught me that the therapist must honor the unique aspects of each relationship. I take a collaborative approach with couples so that each partner experiences changes that are specific and meaningful to their particular strengths and concerns.
