My career began in a private practice that often included children and adolescents referred by school districts for disruptive behavior, bullying or self harm. For patients who are having difficulty in academic environments, I place an emphasis on collaborating with school districts to advocate for the patient and ensure a correct diagnosis when needed. I have worked with patients as young as age 4, from patients who are in their 80's.
I have had a wide range of clinical and life experiences that shaped my worldview as a therapist; from private practice work to my time in the US Army as a Field Artillery Officer in a combat arms unit. I also follow the philosophy and theoretical model of existentialism, which promotes recognizing responsibility for ones choices and behaviors.
I believe in creating a personalized treatment plan for each patient, molding my therapeutic approach to the unique needs of each individual client by using an integrative approach. My clinical work uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and behavioral modification as a core base for treatment, integrated with a combination of empirically validated approaches.
